Sensei's Daily Encouragement - 10 June 2014 - Year of Opening a New Era of Worldwide Kosen-rufu

Daily Encouragement by Daisaku Ikeda

When something needs saying, it is our duty to speak out. When something is right, we should say so and when something is wrong or mistaken, we should likewise point it out. Cheating, lies or scheming should be denounced with alacrity. It is precisely because we have done this that the Soka Gakkai and SGI have developed to the extent they have. To say what must be said - that is the spirit of propagation and the essence of the Soka Gakkai and SGI.

When it comes to studying the teachings of Buddhism, one must first learn to understand the time.

"All right, let's get to work again!" this is the spirit of people of genuine substance. Those who avoid hard work or neglect the things they have to do, who just while away their time, eating, sleeping, playing, watching television - such individuals will never experience true happiness, satisfaction or joy.

Daisaku Ikeda - A Youthful Diary (13 October 1954) p.202

Walked home alone from Kamata Station. The autumn moon shone brilliantly. The heartbeat of youth – pristine, praiseworthy. One who protects the Mystic Law must become like the lotus, blooming amid the muddy swamp of our complicated society. Even if we find ourselves lonely, heartbroken, afflicted with sadness or in the midst of a trying or difficult time, we still have the Mystic Law. Never forget the moon and the greenery of nature. They are good friends.
