Sensei's Daily Encouragement - 9 June 2020 - Year of Advancement and Capable People

   Daily Encouragement by Daisaku Ikeda

June 9, 2020

We have to make ourselves heard. We have to speak out for what we believe in. When we, the people, boldly state our true convictions - never losing our optimism or sense of humour - the times will change. When it comes to speaking out for justice, there isn't any need for restraint. On the contrary, to be reserved or hesitant under such circumstances is wrong.

I am praying that, no matter how troubled the times may become, the Lotus Sutra and the ten demon daughters will protect all of you, praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground.

Wisdom for Modern Life by Daisaku Ikeda

In any field of endeavour, making a vow is the foundation for achieving something great. If for whatever reason a person gives up halfway or backslides, his or her commitment hasn't been based on a vow. Half-hearted desire doesn't amount to a vow.

 Excerpt from Daisaku Ikeda - A Youthful Diary (02 March 1954) p.161

Read an essay on Goto Shinpei (1857-1929), a powerful statesman with a progressive spirit, a man of foresight and practice and a leader of great capability. Nevertheless, he had many points that deserve criticism. I, however, love to see such excellent achievement by a youth. There is no need to elaborate on his ideas or his actions.
